Peter K. Buss

Peter K. Buss serves as CEO and Managing Director of KBF Advisory, where he specializes in providing outsourced tax department services to public companies, private equity-backed organizations, and venture-backed businesses. With extensive experience in corporate tax accounting, Peter has developed particular experience in ASC 740 accounting for income taxes, purchase accounting, and corporate tax compliance, serving as a trusted advisor to clients across a wide range of industries.

Peter partners closely with clients to oversee all aspects of their tax function, including income tax provision preparation and review, tax compliance, and complex tax accounting matters. Acting as a liaison between management teams and external auditors, he helps companies navigate evolving regulatory requirements while delivering practical, efficient solutions. His technical experience includes purchase accounting, stock-based compensation, interim tax accounting, uncertain tax positions, and other complex areas of ASC 740.

Before joining KBF in 2004, Peter was with Ernst & Young's San Francisco tax practice, where he advised public and private companies on corporate tax matters. His background with Big Four clients, combined with years of hands-on experience leading outsourced tax functions, enables him to provide strategic guidance tailored to the needs of growing and established organizations.
