Ryan has joined KBF Advisory as a Director, focusing on partnership taxation based in Washington, D.C. Prior to joining the firm, Ryan spent his time advising multinational businesses, the asset management industry, and venture capital funds on the flexibility of partnership taxation in the national tax offices of two global accounting firms. Through his work with venture capital and private equity funds, Ryan has also developed extensive knowledge as to the qualification of small business stock under Section 1202 of the Code, which allows relevant investors the possibility of a multimillion-dollar tax exclusion upon the investment’s sale.

Ryan is the primary author of Bloomberg Tax’s BNA Portfolio 716 (dealing with the taxation of partnership current and liquidating distributions) which serves as a trusted resource for lawyers and certified public accountants around the country to understand this area of partnership taxation. Ryan has also co-authored various articles for major tax publications such as Tax Notes and the University of Southern California’s Tax Institute.

Ryan is also regularly asked to speak publicly about his views on federal tax matters in forums that have included, for example, the American Bar Association and the California Lawyers Association.
