Scott brings more than 25 years of experience, specializing in complex corporate and international tax matters and transactions. For the past six years, he led Grant Thornton’s Central and Desert Mountain West international tax practices, and he previously held partner and leadership roles at EY and KPMG.

Scott has extensive experience advising individual, pass-through, and corporate multinationals on inbound and outbound tax planning. He has served clients across a wide range of industries, including diversified industrials, retail, technology, private equity and real estate fund families, life sciences, and financial services.

Scott primarily focuses on strategic global effective tax rate and cash tax planning for international businesses. This includes supply chain and IP management structures, cash access and foreign tax credit planning, and tax-efficient structuring of international operations (including buy- and sell-side M&A transactions), as well as cross-border financing and capital arrangements, CFC rules, FDII and BEAT provisions, tax treaties and residency issues, withholding and branch tax matters, transfer pricing and penalty
mitigation, and recent Pillar 1/2 and DST matters. In addition, Scott has significant experience with U.S. international tax reporting and has served as the international tax provision lead on multiple Fortune 250 and other public attest engagements.

A licensed attorney in Florida and Pennsylvania, Scott is a member of the American Bar Association and its Section of Taxation. He regularly speaks at tax industry events including TEI, BNA, CPA and bar association conferences, and firm and client training events. He is also an adjunct professor at SMU’s Dedman School of Law and previously taught international and corporate taxation at Georgia State University in Atlanta.

Scott holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania, a Juris Doctorate from the Villanova University School of Law, and a Master of Laws (LL.M) in Taxation from the University of Miami School of Law.
